  1. Professor Kumaran has drafted a letter to the director explaining in some detail, the need for more faculty housing. The EC has asked the director for an appointment and during the meeting with the director, it is intended to bring up the contents of this letter. This letter (which shall presently be made available) was discussed at length, including possible objections that the Institute will raise. Professor Nott separatey detailed changes to this letter and details will presently be made available.
  2. CHSS: We must continue to emphasize to the Institute that contracting out insurance to agents will not work in the long term given the present expenditure. The need for sustainable medical insurance needs to be highlighted. An important point that must be emphasized is the following. If during one scheme, an insured party contracts an ailment, a new scheme (if the old one fails) will refuse to take on the insurance of this party. More deductibles should be included into the CHSS scheme to ensure that the costs are genuine. Cost-cutting is essential in order to arrive at a sustainable scheme.
  3. The bridge across the road to the KV -- its status must be looked into.
  4. We must pursue a traffic signal for the entrace on to the New BEL road.
  5. Improvement of the creche is an issue that must be further pursued.
  6. The Institute policy on grants from alumni etc. must be clarified.
