The EC was informed that some neighbours have complained about the noise during housing renovation. In an extreme case, the renovation process was halted and the allottee could not move into his house. The EC felt that renovation should not be stopped. The estate office should inform the neighbours as a courtesy about proposed renovation work in the neighbourhood. Faculty should cooperate with the estate office to ensure that houses are renovated periodically.

The secretary informed the EC members that Prof. Ramsesha of SSCU and Prof. Vinod Sharma of ECE have agreed to be FA representatives on the Grievance committee. This information has been updated on the website.

Prof. Sriram Ramaswamy brought to the attention of the EC the problems of attracting good post-docs. The institute does not provide good housing or other benefits to post-docs. Members felt that this should be taken up through other academic channels instead of the FA.

The new telephone exchange was supposed to have many attractive features such as call forwarding, voice mail etc. However these have not been implemented.
